Pickled things!

Over the weekend we gathered a rainbow array of carrots for pickling.  But, the black knight carrots took over and turned the pickle red! We seasoned them with fennel, garlic, apple cider vinegar and other spices. I've hidden them away in the cupboard to sit for two weeks before we can try them out.

Sunny San Francisco Saturday

A day spent running errands doesn't seem like such a chore when the sun is out, the top is down and you don't have anywhere in particular to be. Though we had many stops to make to pick up supplies for various projects, we took the time to stop at Sutro Heights to enjoy the warmth of the afternoon.

Waffle Stompers

I've never considered myself a hiking boot wearing type of girl. But, I've committed myself to a 4 night backpacking trek through Yellowstone in June, so I'm getting prepared early. Of course, safety and comfort are most important in this type of endeavor but I can't help wanting to put style into my getup too. I got excited about getting some hiking boots and the first image that popped into my head was of the old "waffle stomper" style boots with red laces. Times like these are not for going the vintage route. So, I purchased a really nice pair of Asolo hiking boots and decided to give them the red lace treatment. I think they look much more fun, no?

Birds of a Feather...

Last night the Pressman and I attended the 7x7 Magazine Fashion Blogger Event at Infusion Lounge. What a fun night! We snapped these photos right before going in while the sun was still up.

 

I thought the event a good opportunity to break out my feather capelet.

Though I found it difficult to leave behind the $250 dress I really wanted and that fit me perfectly at the vintage expo, I did manage to find a few things to bring home. I got this fan last Sunday while taking a leisurely walk through lower Haight with the Pressman. The dresses are from the expo but much more affordable than the one that got away.

St. Patricks Day

On St. Patrick's day, we celebrated my friend Sarah's birthday with pizza and jazz at Club Deluxe on Haight Street. I received my new camera this week and I'm still getting used to it. Most of the photos didn't come out very well in the low light of Club Deluxe, but I'm hoping to see great improvement after my photography class tomorrow!
